Credential file deleted since baseline: ‹path›
What this means
‹path› was present at the last baseline and is now missing. A missing /etc/shadow or /etc/sudoers is either severe accidental damage or deliberate tampering — neither leaves this host in a safe state.
How to fix it
Restore the file immediately from a package manager reinstall or backup — do not leave this host running without it. Then re-run sudo bulwark fim baseline --privileged.
Check it yourself
Run a scan and look for BLWK-FIM-005 in the results:
sh
bulwark scanInstalled the standalone CLI package instead of the app? The command is bulwarkctl.
How Bulwark decides
Bulwark reads file_integrity_privileged and reports this check when:
text
changed == true and currently_present == falseIf a value can't be read, Bulwark reports the check as undetermined rather than passing it. View the rule source.
